"Falling Leaves of Wisdom" By Elexer Lyra

Falling Leaves of Wisdom
By Elexer Lyra

Leaves shine my soul
into a spotlight of wanderlust.
Their warmth contrasts the
wind giving them their voices-
full of crackling.
Invisible eyes have seen the
best and worst of this world.
As they fall they bring their wisdom
to us that everything ends
and everything returns to the Earth.
The body will one day sprout flowers.

"Remembrance and Humor" by Elexer Lyra

Remembrance and Humor

By Elexer Lyra

Will the witty wasp
sting me today with my
attempts at humor?
To try to make others laugh
in replacement for one's own
is a noble gift
in this month of reflection.
I see my own mortality
in the faces of those
now buried
or burned.
Mind in cycles of denial
and remembrance.
A break is needed
so let laughs
pull
at my cheeks.

"Adorable Strength" By Elexer Lyra

Adorable Strength

By Elexer Lyra

The light-hearted fever
of creating
adorable creatures of happiness
keeps the tealights
within my mind lit,
to heat up my steam engine
Core.

“Keep moving forward”,
the pen speaks in
defiance as I hesitate
to change my approach.

Adorable does not
cheat the soul,
but builds it
as the chest expands
and heart conquers.

It is like the mistakes made
and learned from.
They pull me forward
with, hopefully, a cane
and not rope,
to bring me back to
my internal chalkboard.

Coloring my utensils pink
and lavender
I see new shapes
of futures not yet tested
under fear- which must be
overtaken.

"Today is a Beautiful Mess" By Elexer Lyra

Today is a Beautiful Mess

By Elexer Lyra

Today is a beautiful mess.

Desk full of useful clutter
given no place to officially be,
but a spot I know where it is.

Headphones are on one side
on top of small blankets of paper,
on the other a lamp is having a
conversation with a stranded
bottle cap.

 Ginger candy is hiding under
a coupon sheet,
wanting to be eaten,
but my mind rejects as
a slight throbbing occurs under
damp, long, and heavy hair.

"Smells like Autumn" by Elexer Lyra

Smells like Autumn

By Elexer Lyra

Nutmeg and cinnamon,
pumpkin in pie shape,
silk touches taste buds
and glides down
with grace
like the tangerine,
lemon,
and cherry leaves.

"Twirling Petals" By Elexer Lyra

Twirling Petals

By Elexer Lyra

Swirling gusts
brush my hair-
twirling the strands
in sequence to
the flower petals
among the wind.
If only I
could be carried
off like those
petals
and experience
flight.

"A Contrasting World" By Elexer Lyra

A Contrasting World
By Elexer Lyra

The bright world
around me
glistens.
Nature's contrast
pulls away darkness
from shadow.
Bricks of distortion
are placed in a haphazard
view
around consciousness.
