See The Fake Speak The Truth

See The Fake Speak The Truth

By Elissa Rosenthal

Speak the truth they told me,
Whispering away,
Tell the words you know,
Not the ones you want to say.

Speak the truth they told me,
Though they did not want the truth,
The truth was too hard for them,
They would rather have me mute.

Speak the truth they told me,
As I spoke of all their faults,
All the lies they have told,
Building up their walls.

Speak the truth they told me,
As I ripped apart their truth,
The lies they told themselves,
Was making their hearts mute.

Speak our truth they told me,
As they grew sick on my words,
Everyone shaking,
Silent like sleeping night birds.

Speak our truth they told me,
Now coming to a yell,
No longer wanting to hear my truth,
I was opened up to tell.

They no longer hear my words,
As they hold the real truth,
They tell themselves lies,
Then give themselves proof.

They no longer hear my words,
As they hold their lies to light,
They would rather grasp onto lies,
Then letting real truth fight.
