"A Wish for Snow" by Elissa Rosenthal

 A Wish for Snow
by Elissa Rosenthal

Wishful for snow,
to climb its' way to our front door.
This time is one of the few,
where the beauty could not be a nuisance.
Work is now set aside,
waiting for the new year to toll.
Please,
father sky,
let it snow.

The crisp shivers,
within the air,
make it clear,
of the possibility.
For hot chocolate times,
among trees covered in fresh frost,
and boots digging into the softness,
let it snow.

Shadow

Shadow
By Elissa Rosenthal

Lavender lilies spring from the spring,
Watching as the mermaids sing.

Screeching their songs of woe,
For the world.

Burning fumes of fog,
Wallow and whirl.

Drowning out the wishes of onlookers,
Seeing with blind eyes in shadow.

Puncture

Puncture

By Elissa Rosenthal

Scathing,

Writhing,

Structure pronounced as one of the most sound,

Seethes every time it touches the ground.

Electricity wraps and climbs,

Each weak point sought out and entwined.

Elixir comes in slow downs,

Escaping aches by raising off pounds.

Supple softness brings no strength,

Every hard crackle prevents a scrape.
