Sugar and Rainbows

Sugar and Rainbows
By Elexer

Sparkling white sugar
brushes my face
and makes the air smell sweet,
like honeydew melon.
Rolling in the bleached flour
of not yet baked bread,
I see a rainbow
of dancing clouds
smiling.
As they sing
and waltz across the skyline
I follow their steps
in my missing boots
and the fluffy coat
my mom
always made me where
 on cold winter days.
The child within me smiles
with the clouds
as the adult warns about the time wasted
creating daydreams.

"Spring Pick-Me-Up" by Elissa Rosenthal

Spring Pick-Me-Up

by Elissa Rosenthal

You are not alone
in this merry meet spring
fairy tale,
where you fear about failure
with new beginnings.

You carry a life of work
and willingness
to improve upon
your misgivings and mistakes.

Look at the flowers budding
around your shoulders,
waiting to bloom
in delight.

Luck of a Dragonfly
By Elissa Rosenthal

Take my good luck
into your peace of light.
Willing hopeful wishes
into your grand fortnight.

Release the lucky spark
to others in your world,
for I have given you
a time to make your pearl.

"Warm Chill" By Elissa Rosenthal

 Warm Chill

 By Elissa Rosenthal

The watching windows
are like the eyes

from above me.
Windows full of memories

creating a warm chill
to keep me up at night.

Hold me close douglas fir
as wind wallows through you,

as my tears
water your roots.

"Biohazard" By Elissa Rosenthal

Biohazard
By Elissa Rosenthal

Syringes of toxins pierce the shriveled spiderwebs under my skin.
Mortal,
cherry red
nutrients is drawn out like a verbose speech.
The push and pull
of an uneven tug of war match
drags my body along the ground
which sandpapers me into nothingness.
My body is a nuclear reactor
full of slow deaths
of people I do not know.
I see needles as my eyes close for the last time,
wishing they were cat scratches
from the one who truly knew me.

I Am a Ladybug By Elissa Rosenthal

 "I Am a Ladybug"
By Elissa Rosenthal

Your fingers are beetles diving underneath my skin
and killing my appetite. A hand of putrid flesh laced in
maggot infested regret.

Can I dive into the trash and live there?
The home of the ego yelling like a
ladybug-
as menacing.
Do I wish to be?

Kill my thoughts slowly and I might as well be dead.
I am dead
and numb.

Who am I? What is this place?
Why do I feel like no one?

A hand stokes my back like a banker visiting his gold.
I am not gold.
I am a ladybug trying
my best to be my best.
I smell the leaves but cannot see them.
All I see is a plastic lining.

"A Wish for Snow" by Elissa Rosenthal

 A Wish for Snow
by Elissa Rosenthal

Wishful for snow,
to climb its' way to our front door.
This time is one of the few,
where the beauty could not be a nuisance.
Work is now set aside,
waiting for the new year to toll.
Please,
father sky,
let it snow.

The crisp shivers,
within the air,
make it clear,
of the possibility.
For hot chocolate times,
among trees covered in fresh frost,
and boots digging into the softness,
let it snow.

Welcome

Welcome
 By: Elissa Rosenthal

Come into my house today,
And see how I will act,
As you take away my treats from me,
Can't you hear a clack?

Click,
Click,
Click,

Goes against the grain,
Feeding off your fear,
And feeding off your pain.

Click,
Click,
Click,
Thump,

Feel your blood now boil,
As a laugh back at you,
Running from my pail.

You though a little costume,
Cute and cuddly so,
Would make me not show you the body,
That I had stowed.

Emerald Colored Glasses

Emerald Colored Glasses
By: Elissa Rosenthal

Evergreen shakes flutter through my bones.
Glasses of better grasses, of better homes,
complete my vision of being alone.

Fill my cup with troll-like tales of wine.
Fairy tales that glimmer the divine,
push the thought they will never be mine.

Closed eyes filled with hope, ever green,
will never keep a conscience for the clean.

Merry Meet

Merry Meet
By Elissa Rosenthal

Come with me to tea today,
so we can merry meet.
Tell our thoughts and stories,
over what we eat.

Sing songs and silly tales,
over our quiet meal.
Let time of smiling friends,
be here for none to steal.

We not agree on all,
past-times and things.
However, we can agree,
to give this friendship wings.

Sweet Tea

Sweet Tea
by Elissa Rosenthal

Lulling breezes glide against my puckered up flesh,

Leaning toward the cool embrace full of fresh,

Lillie's, old spring daffodils, morning tea pulled through mesh,

Let me keep this feeling of being blessed.

Looking out the window I do not feel alone,

Loving how this quite house now feels like a home,

Leave me and let me live with this feeling I have sewn,

Lifting up the piece of pottery I used to condone.

Lips filled with sweet fragrance and relished calm,

Lucky me to have this time of peace within my palm,

Little figures brush against the porcelain consuming the warmth of the dawn,

Living like this I know with not last long.

Spirit's of The Damned

Spirit's of The Damned
By Elissa Rosenthal

Let me slumber among those who weep out of longing,
Cure those who wish those harm,
Keep my way clear of humming,
Catch those who keep alarm.

Make my way for those who weep,
Slumber and sleep keep coming,
Say your woes of marry meet,
Never think lightly of summoning.

You through me aside and wished me well,
Kept the sleep on cleaning,
Cleaning your lies and will to live,
Kept me harnessed to seeking.

Seek out my soul,
I do wish you well,
Never meet my cunning.

Slumber meet all,
I will not tell,
The lies will keep on coming.

Wave Lengths

 Wave Lengths
by Elissa Rosenthal

Radiant wave lengths prevent me from sleep,
Tilling on the edge of reality,
Kept in a box of normality,
Filled with the blues of originality.

See,
I may not wish to wake,
In this wish-washy world,
Forced to make myself look like bird,
Peacocking.

I,
Want to be who I am meant to be,
Whether or not that is,
In this reality.

You,
May never want me to be,
Anything but your perception of me,
Forcefully.

Keep,
Your mind out of my memories,
Those you said know one else would see,
See my ways,
See my work,
Never want to talk to me.

Now,
I know,
You say that to your self.
Your fear of being put on a shelf,
And forgotten.

Seek,
Some help,
Some comfort,
Don't tell me that words don't hurt.

I can learn,
To love myself,
And not have little self deprecating voices,
Depict,
Who I will be.

Money Maker

Money Maker
By Elissa Rosenthal

Money please,
My dear friend,
I will drain you,
Till the end.

Lick up my lies,
Of solitary waste,
Let you feel alone,
A waste of space.

Pick up my money,
My money maker of wishes,
Hopes to have food,
Hopes to have dishes.

Feel the fear of loss,
Truth has a clear ring,
My money clogs your vision,
To feel its poison sting.

Pick up my money,
Drop all your hope,
Hold my money in your hands,
While you go on and gloat.

Love

Love
By Elissa Rosenthal

Stillness is lead by scared little whispers,
Wishing for the breath to hold their caring.

Carefully treading through the thoughts of love,
Life at their fingertips still unknowing.

Unimportance claims the thoughts of the weak,
Crystallizing their fears of being one.

Old thoughts of harsh reality floods mind,
Keep the whispers safe and keep whispers kind.

Love of ones' self creates love is ones' mind.

Emotions

Emotions
By: Elissa Rosenthal

Fiery fills all I know and all I am.

Harsh words fill my mind with deep night regrets.

Feel my passion,
hate,
and fear,
 through my words.

Feel my passion
want,
and fear,
through my actions.

I scream among the stars as my eyes close in fitful slumber.

I weep in my dreams,
remembering the harsh memories of the day.

Two minds,
two different expressions of emotion.

I tell you I hate you for the same reasons I hate myself.

I give the actions I wish someone would do for me.

Read between the lines.
Think through the actions,
and the speech.
We are human.
Emotions were taught to be in the background,
silenced,
twisted,
stretched.

Do not weep but yell.

Do not yell but weep.

Childhood emotional training nonexistent.
Why do people not see?

I yell because that was the only way they would listen.

I cry because then they would hear.

Simple explanations never taught.
Understanding never understood.

Feel my passion,
hate,
and fear,
through my words.
I beg.

Feel my passion,
want,
and fear,
through my actions.
I pray.

Sparkling Nothingness

Sparkling Nothingness

By Elissa Rosenthal

Complacent populations stand around a fire made of sparkling nothingness.

They claim a need for beauty that presents no emotion.

They conceal wonder created by the unknown.

Contorting their natural instincts,

they flail themselves and others,

in search for meaning.

Cannibalistic,

conquests,

of mind and body.

Stair into the crystallized nothingness.

Let the corruption seep into your veins.

Contort your natural instincts and flail.
