"Springtime Beauty" by Elexer

Springtime Beauty

By Elexer

You are beautiful
With hair of
An orange cream
Sweet delight.
 Mother of Springtime,
Sugar, and Pollen,
You brush your scents
Along noses.
You say, "hello",
Breeze-filled touch
Of lemon and ginger.
Bringing us knew hope-
Knew wonders- about
The world.
You are beautiful
With our without
Your exterior.

Sunlight by Elexer

Sunlight

by Elexer

The sweet fragrance
Of your love
Fills me with sunlight.

Your eyes glow
With the hope
Of the North Star.

My internal compass
no longer points north,
but to you.

Your soul is the gravity
I orbit
As your warmth
Keeps the darkness
at bay.

Locks and Boxes by Elexer

Locks and Boxes
by Elexer

The lock
and key
to my soul
is not a one-way street
you can tear up with your
lyrical jackhammer's,
spilling my majesty
into the sewer
with your language.
Locking
me up
behind a wall of religious
illusions
of me trying to be myself
and the perfection you will never see.
These rainbows
are my protectors
and this box
is my chastity belt.

"Spring Pick-Me-Up" by Elissa Rosenthal

Spring Pick-Me-Up

by Elissa Rosenthal

You are not alone
in this merry meet spring
fairy tale,
where you fear about failure
with new beginnings.

You carry a life of work
and willingness
to improve upon
your misgivings and mistakes.

Look at the flowers budding
around your shoulders,
waiting to bloom
in delight.

I Am a Ladybug By Elissa Rosenthal

 "I Am a Ladybug"
By Elissa Rosenthal

Your fingers are beetles diving underneath my skin
and killing my appetite. A hand of putrid flesh laced in
maggot infested regret.

Can I dive into the trash and live there?
The home of the ego yelling like a
ladybug-
as menacing.
Do I wish to be?

Kill my thoughts slowly and I might as well be dead.
I am dead
and numb.

Who am I? What is this place?
Why do I feel like no one?

A hand stokes my back like a banker visiting his gold.
I am not gold.
I am a ladybug trying
my best to be my best.
I smell the leaves but cannot see them.
All I see is a plastic lining.

"Firework Haze" by Elissa Rosenthal

Firework Haze
By Elissa Rosenthal

Bright lights,
bring in a bright year.
One filled with shining stars,
and red and blue flickers.
Stay safe.
Ten minutes where you stood,
could have been a drink too far.

Universal Chaos

 Universal Chaos
By Elissa Rosenthal

Galaxies gaze into my eyes and see themselves,
cradled in the mass universal nothingness,
and yet everything.
We swing on the swing set,
of gazes.
We hear the screams,
the beams of hope,
and the mass explosions destroying both.
Many dreams and wishes never fulfilled,
or never grasped because of social norms.
The possibilities are endless,
yet have infinite amounts of order.
Chaos in our universe is inevitable,
predicable,
and grand.
