Watering With Poison by Elexer

Watering With Poison

By Elexer

I use the poison
To water my flowers,
To listen
For overnight shrouds
Of wisdom.

Keeping sogging hearts
In night skies,
Filled with stars
Of twilight.

Listening to the rhythm
Of the drumming pulse
Of lifetimes lived
With coping
White lies.

"Cities of Waste" by Elexer

Cities of Waste

by Elexer

I am not nearly
As slimy
As the falsehoods
you tell yourself.

Covered in your
Garbage- a core
Of a battery
stuck to me like a burning appendage.

Locking yourself up
to not see how messed up
you have made
this world.

The glass only a mirror-
you hear
yourself say you use to see
outside your comfort zone.

Sunlight by Elexer

Sunlight

by Elexer

The sweet fragrance
Of your love
Fills me with sunlight.

Your eyes glow
With the hope
Of the North Star.

My internal compass
no longer points north,
but to you.

Your soul is the gravity
I orbit
As your warmth
Keeps the darkness
at bay.

Coral Dust

Coral Dust

By Elexer

Chilling brush of wind
Rips my buds
From within
And builds them into mountains
Of sparkling,
Coral dust.

Filling me with fruitful
Awakenings
Of tea complete in youthful
Gatherings.

Delicate powder
Wrapped tightly
To bring power
In nightly
Slumber.

Locks and Boxes by Elexer

Locks and Boxes
by Elexer

The lock
and key
to my soul
is not a one-way street
you can tear up with your
lyrical jackhammer's,
spilling my majesty
into the sewer
with your language.
Locking
me up
behind a wall of religious
illusions
of me trying to be myself
and the perfection you will never see.
These rainbows
are my protectors
and this box
is my chastity belt.

Sugar and Rainbows

Sugar and Rainbows
By Elexer

Sparkling white sugar
brushes my face
and makes the air smell sweet,
like honeydew melon.
Rolling in the bleached flour
of not yet baked bread,
I see a rainbow
of dancing clouds
smiling.
As they sing
and waltz across the skyline
I follow their steps
in my missing boots
and the fluffy coat
my mom
always made me where
 on cold winter days.
The child within me smiles
with the clouds
as the adult warns about the time wasted
creating daydreams.

"Spring Pick-Me-Up" by Elissa Rosenthal

Spring Pick-Me-Up

by Elissa Rosenthal

You are not alone
in this merry meet spring
fairy tale,
where you fear about failure
with new beginnings.

You carry a life of work
and willingness
to improve upon
your misgivings and mistakes.

Look at the flowers budding
around your shoulders,
waiting to bloom
in delight.
